Research
Proposals
A
research proposal outlines in detail the student's specific
area of interest so that the university can try and locate
a supervisor who is undertaking similar research. They are
usually required to be submitted at the same time as the application.
However, in some subject areas the department may consider
students on the strength of their academic background and
assign them to a research team. Other professors will consider
a student on the basis of a very broad statement and then
enter into an email dialog with the student to focus the specific
research to be done.
UKEAS have a fine
track record of helping prospective PhD students locate suitable
supervisors and focus their research areas.
NB Students should
contact their local UKEAS office for advice before proceeding
with PhD applications.
