Introduction
University of Essex is one of the UK's leading academic institutions, founded in 1964, with beautiful parkland campus - Colchester campus, and lively seaside town centre campus - Southend campus. About one hour on train to central London. In the most recent national assessment, the university ranked ninth for the quality of its research (RAE, Research Assessment Exercise) and 8th for teaching (Sunday Times Good University Guide 2009).
