University of Hull

Introduction

The University of Hull began its life in 1928 and became Englands 14th university in 1954. Today there are students from over 102 countries and members of staff from 38 countries on the campus, leading to the feel of an international university. Teaching and research at the university has had an international impact. For example, Hulls Department of Chemistry has developed liquid crystals which are now used world-wide for display systems. The university also prides itself on its expertise in environmental management and business skills; Hulls academics have pioneered roles in cancer and osteoporosis research.

Other developments from the university have included advances in work surface engineering, which is important to the UK manufacturing industry.
