University of Sunderland
Established: 1901

Introduction
Conveniently situated in and around the centre of the City of Sunderland, her university has a lot to offer. A brand new campus on the riverside was built to contain the business school, and was joined by a purpose-built library shortly afterwards. The courses on offer are relevant and practical, designedto get people working in their chosen industry. Sunderland excels at pharmacy, and has well regarded business, science, media and health courses.
The university has its own station on the Tyne & Wear Metro light rail system connecting with Newcastle upon Tyne just up the coast and the local international airport, which is handy for travelling or a special shopping trip. One thing to mention is cost. At the time of writing, not only is Sunderland about the cheapest place to live in the UK, the university offers a guaranteed fee discount too - definitely a place to consider if budget considerations feature largely in your plans.
