Loughborough University is a campus university located in the town of Loughborough, Leicestershire, in the East Midlands of England, about 1.5 hours north of London. As an educational institution, Loughborough Universitys roots date back to 1909. Loughborough University has nearly 16,000 students, of whom almost 15 per cent are international from over 100 countries. Loughborough Universitys campus is close to the town centre and a short bus ride from the railway station. The campus itself covers an area of 433 acres, one of the largest in Europe, which is very attractive and has many natural and green open spaces.
Loughborough University has student accommodation for over 6,000 students on campus and can also assist in finding private housing. Accommodation in the Universitys halls of residence is guaranteed for international undergraduate students for up to 2 years.
Most students live in single study-bedrooms which all have telephones and computer network connections. These rooms are in secure low-rise buildings. Halls of residence have laundries, games and common rooms.
There are 3 Asian supermarkets in Loughborough and a variety of restaurants that cater for our international students. The University has over 130 different nationalities on the campus making it a truly international experience for all our students. The Loughborough students union www.lufbra.net is very active, with the International Students Association (ISA) which represents all international students, and we also have cultural societies. The students union this year also won the award of best International Students Union which is a higly regarded award.
